About Me

Welcome. I am Rachael Meurrier, a 15-year banking veteran, and a wife, mother, friend, pet-owner, homeowner, and now, an aspiring writer. When I first launched my banking career, my mornings, lunches, and evenings were packed-full of client meetings and networking events. Fast-forward, and I am writing this as my husband and child sleep, my pets sit around me hoping treats will manifest from my hands, and I watch the clock so we can all get to school and work on time. 

I no longer propose meetings that fall outside of traditional banking hours, and I no longer accept general networking events. If I say yes, it’s because I simply want to support the people in the room. My cell phone is always on, and my clients are sophisticated enough that they can text or email me, and its reasonable that they can expect a reply within an hour. My established clients are the main source of new referrals, so while I have imposed new boundaries on my career, it (thankfully) continues to grow although, admittedly, perhaps at not the same pace as it could if I were socializing professionally. 

My priorities have shifted. I want to be the one that takes my kid to school, and I want to have enough energy at the end of the day to play. I want my husband to feel wanted and important, because he is. Lastly, I want to feel like I am contributing to the world outside of my house. So, here it is, what I hope will be a contribution to the world, albeit small...The Balanced Banker. 

My intention is provide information about banking in a very conversational, casual way. I hope this provides some confidence to readers, and for me, it will provide a way to catalog all this information that has been filed away in my head.
